DANCE FOR PARKINSONS

Miss Julia

I am a fully qualified and registered teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance and have been passionate about sharing the joy of dance for over 22 years.
As the Principal and owner of my own dance school in Chorleywood, I specialise in ballet and have had the privilege of guiding many students into associate programs and vocational schools. My philosophy is that dance should be accessible to everyone, and I have welcomed a wonderfully diverse range of dancers into my schools over the years.
In 2011, I attended the Dance for Parkinson’s course at De Montfort University in Leicester, where I explored how movement can positively impact those living with Parkinson’s. I was incredibly fortunate to learn from David Leventhal, a founding teacher of the Dance for Parkinson’s program, which was developed in collaboration with the Mark Morris Dance Company and Brooklyn Parkinson’s Group. This experience truly inspired me and deepened my commitment to using dance as a powerful tool to enhance both physical and emotional well-being.
Since 2011, I have worked with Parkinson’s UK, delivering Dance for Parkinson’s classes. Over the past decade, I have also been leading a weekly Parkinson’s dance class, along with sessions in various care homes.
But our classes are so much more than just dance – they are a social event, where students can connect, share their experiences, and support one another. We laugh, we move, and we even perform once a year in the theatre!
Come and join us!
Whether you’re looking to stay active, meet new people, or simply try something new, I would love to welcome you to our class. No prior dance experience is needed... just a willingness to move and have fun!
Let’s dance, connect, and create joyful moments together.
